Lymph node cancer or lymphoma cancer is one of the 10 most common types of cancer in Indonesia, both in men and women. However, Ronald A. Hukom, from the Medical Oncology Hematology Association of Indonesian Internal Medicine (Perhompedin) stated that these cancer cases are more often found in men.
“Lymphoma is indeed a little more or more often found in men, we know that there is testicular lymphoma. So, there are cases of lymphoma in the testicles,” he said at the World Lymphoma Cancer Day commemoration with the theme of Life More INTELLIGENT with Lymphoma which was held in collaboration with Cancer. The Indonesian Information & Support Center (CISC) is supported by Ferron Par Pharmaceuticals, Saturday, 15 September 2018, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
The presence of testicular lymphoma in men will also cause certain effects, including its reproductive ability. However, for those who are concerned about their reproductive abilities, whether they can have children or are able to carry out their duties as husbands, according to Ronald, it must be distinguished.
“If those who have the ability to have children, meaning that their reproductive organs are disrupted or not, it must be disturbed too. Well usually for young fathers it is offered, if they feel it is a problem, they still want to have children, we suggest (consultation) to the biologist, “said Ronald.
Lymphoma cancer generally occurs due to excessive growth of the immune system or lymphocyte cells, which is usually known as Hodgkin Lymphoma (LH) and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (LNH). The causes can vary. “If in Jakarta the possibility of a viral infection, can be diet, pollution, chemicals,” said Ronald.
The main symptom of this disease is the enlargement of the lymph nodes in certain parts of the body. In addition to causing complaints around the organ where lymphoma emerges, there are several other symptoms experienced by patients with the disease. “Weight loss, sweating at night, cold air also sweats, that’s because lymphoma cells remove ingredients that are not normal for the body,” Ronald said.
Other symptoms of lymphoma cancer such as fever, shortness of breath, feeling tired, chest pain, abdominal pain and swelling. If you experience these symptoms, it is advisable to see a doctor immediately.
